We met her in Space Seed. Lt. Marla McGivers, the ship's historian, was a beautiful woman with a unfortunate fetish for domineering men. She enjoyed painting portraits of conquerors of the past, and she no doubt enjoyed fantasizing about them as well.
All of this certainly clouded her judgment when it came to Khan. She was fatally attracted to the genetically engineered superman that had tried to subjugate Earth. She became in effect his slave, and betrayed the Enterprise crew to help her master in a takeover attempt.
Marla wasn't entirely bad. When she saw that Khan intended to kill Captain Kirk, she apparently couldn't stomach that, and snuck away to save Kirk from certain doom.
Marla was later given the choice of either facing a court-martial, or accompanying Khan and his followers into exile on planet Ceti Alpha V. She chose to go with Khan. Khan approved of this, oddly, even though McGivers hadn't been utterly loyal to him, either. She's basically treacherous and disloyal, no matter what team she's on.
For the record, she was never Kirk's girlfriend. Kirk showed no erotic interest in her at all, and the (lack of) feeling was mutual. That's right: ANOTHER beautiful TOS woman that Kirk didn't get, or seemingly even want to get. One of many, in fact.
