The Women Of Star Trek: Eymorg Queen Kara

by Laura Goodwin

Eymorg and proud! (Marj Dusay)

In Spock's Brain, we met Kara. Queen, high-priestess, brain surgeon, starship pilot... gosh, Kara could do it all. Kara is the supreme leader of the Eymorgs of Planet Sigma Draconis 6.

On Kara's world women ran the whole show and enjoyed all of society's benefits. They had an unimaginably old and technologically super-advanced culture that had divided the haves and have-nots along gender lines. The men (Morg) were forced to live in barely liveable stone-age conditions on the planet's frozen surface, unless the Eymorg (women) could devise some use for them, at which point the Eymorg would bait a trap with weapons and food to capture a few of them.

The men who lived among Kara's Eymorg were most emphatically nothing but slaves, who were kept under strict control with pain giving devices. One may assume that they were rewarded with pleasure, since to the Morg the Eymorg were known as "the givers of pain and delight".

Kara's delightful aspects were left to our imaginations, since she was all business the whole episode. She very skillfully stole Spock's brain, and Kirk had to chase her back to her planet and hunt her down to get it back.

Kara had access to a remarkable device that temporarily gave her brain super-intelligence and super-knowledge. Kara adamantly refused to betray her people and cooperate with Kirk, so McCoy borrowed her device and used it to temporarily give himself the know-how necessary to replace Spock's brain into his body.
