We met her in Friday's Child. Eleen (pronounced elly-en) was the pregnant wife of High Teer Akaar of planet Capella 4, until he was killed in a local power struggle. Since she carried the unborn child who would be Teer, Eleen understood that her husband's enemies would put her to death, and she courageously awaited her fate with dignity - or perhaps she was just stunned with shock and grief at the death of her husband and the horrible cards that life had just dealt her.
Her execution was prevented by Kirk, who impulsively intervened on her behalf. Kirk, Spock, and McCoy took her with them when they escaped the Capellan camp.
Kirk (to Eleen): "You said that you're prepared to die... does that mean that you prefer to die? I think that we can get you safely to the ship."
Eleen (hesitantly): "To live... is always desirable."
Later, when Doctor McCoy insisted on being allowed to touch and treat her, she slapped him for his impudence, twice, hard. Exasperated, he slapped her back, and this seemed to amuse her. A moment later she praised his soft hands. The haughty Capellan diva apparently thought of his weak little slap as a love-tap. Capellans are warriors who think combat is more fun than lovemaking, which might explain her reaction.
As they made their way up a steep hill to a cave shelter, Eleen continued to refuse to let either Kirk or Spock ever touch her. She would allow only McCoy's touch. The guys thought she was being silly, but they respected her wishes - even when McCoy asked for help in getting her up the hill. Kirk and Spock just shrugged, as if to say "What? She doesn't WANT us to help you, Bones!"
McCoy (irritated): "I'm a doctor, not an escalator!"
Nevertheless...
During the birth scene, Eleen tells McCoy that, on her planet, the child belongs to the father.
McCoy (outraged): "So they take all the credit here? Poppycock!". Then, "Say to yourself 'The Child Is Mine! The Child Is Mine!'"
Eleen (clueless): "Yes... it's yours."
She didn't like their rude, Earthman ways, but her negative attitude toward our guys gradually changed, especially after the birth of her son.
Eleen showed extreme daring and courage at the climax of the episode, when she was instrumental in turning the tide of events.
Ultimately, she named her son Leonard James in honor of the two Enterprise officers who saved her and her son from death. As mother to Capellan High Teer Leonard James Akaar, Eleen became regent, which means she'll be ruling the Ten Tribes until her son comes of age. Her first official act as regent was to sign a mining treaty with the Federation.
