When Kirk first meets the stunning Andrea, he doesn't realize that she's an android, but he also (amazingly) doesn't seem too impressed. Minutes later, when he tries to communicate with his ship and is forbidden to do so (by Korby's assistant, who points a pistol at him), he grabs Andrea and uses her as a "human" shield (chivalry be damned!).
As Ruk the android restrains Kirk, Korby oddly orders Andrea to first kiss, then slap Kirk - to demonstrate that she is just an android who's incapable of feelings or independent thought.
Later, while Kirk is incarcerated, Andrea brings him food in his cell, and Kirk toys with her to gauge her mental capacity and try to discombobulate her. He orders her to kiss him, and she unthinkingly complies, then also unthinkingly winds up to slap him, as she had been previously programmed to do. Kirk stops her hand and forces a deep kiss on her, in an effort to confuse her - knowing that she is nothing but a mechanical doll all the while.
When Andrea was later temporarily asked to perform security duty, she totally botched the job. At the end, it's revealed that Andrea was originally programmed to be Dr. Korby's little love-doll, and that's all that she really knows how to do - but work's been slow since Korby himself became an android.
At the climax of the episode androids "Korby" and "Andrea" kiss, and while they kiss, they vaporize themselves with a phaser-type pistol.
